Our Story

Ashe and Wapang planted a seed of hope—COPE Initiatives (Community of Peace & Empowerment Initiatives) born from a shared dream to walk alongside the vulnerable people, equipping them not just to survive, but to thrive in the face of war, displacement, and deep uncertainty.

Our journey began as educators at Kawthoolei Hope Theological Seminary (KHTS), where year after year, we’ve witnessed classrooms transform into launchpads. Through rigorous theological and leadership training, dozens of our students have graduated with master’s degrees, stepping out as beacons of peace and resilience. Today, they lead churches, teach in mission schools, guide community development, and respond courageously to crises along the Thai-Myanmar border and beyond.

Through COPE Initiatives, we lead hands-on efforts—leadership development seminars, emergency relief for internally displaced persons (IDPs), life skills training, and community development programs. Our mission has taken us from war-torn villages to international platforms, where we've shared the stories and struggles of those often left unheard.

Ashe currently serves as the Dean of Student Affairs and a full-time core faculty member at KHTS, while pursuing a Ph.D. in Peace Studies at Payap University. Wapang serves as the Academic Dean and full-time core faculty at the same seminary. Together, we continue to teach, empower, and advocate—for peace, for justice, and for lives rebuilt with dignity.
